M. A. D.
Mutual assured destruction
By AJ O’Brien.
They’re on their way
One hundred dark angels
dressed to kill,
in suits of shining armour
searching for blood to spill.
Cruising high and silent
sailing across the skies
carrying songs of death,
and when they arrive
there won’t be anyone left.
Locked on to the innocent
they’re on their way down,
beyond turning back.
Let loose your dark angels?
Two minutes to impact.
Amazing! The Ray Bradbury tagline really suits your blog π

You’re so kind. Thank you.
Ray Bradbury actually borrowed my tagline
from William Shakespeare. And so did I. π

Haha! I didn’t know that. I might borrow it sometime soon as well π

Thereβs a dark fog hovering above the White House; a cloud of ignorance, lies, and greed. Your remarkable poems truly resonate. π€

I am impressed by how much you say is so short a s[ace. I like the line: “carrying songs of death.” The juxtaposition of the joyful word “songs” and the sadness of “death” strikes me.

An eerie and unsettling application for our time. I loved the line “in suits of shining armor”. Hope things are good w/ you, Alan.

Hi Alan! Classic line, “beyond turning back” it does feel that way. Has history prepared us for any of this?

Hi Mia, and Many Thanks.
Are we on the brink?
I don’t think any of us are prepared
for what could actually happen.

You’re welcome, Alan. Is it fair to say, we’re closer to the brink than we’ve ever been?

I so hope not Mia.
But maybe we really are.

Very scary, Alan! The picture you paint is quite vivid, and also very timely, sad to say. Thanks for another powerful post!

I was going to say this is timely, Alan, but these days there’s hardly a time when it wouldn’t be…

Lovely poem but the message, not so cool. Set loose subjective chaos because collective chaos is coming? Doesn’t that just lift the veil of what “civilized society” as an ideal should be or what “Civilized” society actually is? #lovely
