Farewell.
Tanka. Haiku.
By AJ O’Brien.
Soft raindrops gather
creating sad reflections
upon her small face.
Lost, empty eyes reaching out
needing someone to embrace.
They held hands and wept,
while upon a distant hill
played the lone piper.

Technically a grown woman; I felt like a little girl when my parents died, tragically and each of them far too young. I’ve often wondered if others felt the same. Lovely poem.

We all need “someone to embrace”, most especially in times of sorrow. Simple, beautiful, evocative. Well done, Alan. π
